I love Christmas time and children just make the season even sweeter. There's nothing quite like celebrating your first Christmas with your first baby. I love that we got to do part of this family's 6 month session at the tree farm and part of it at their home in their PJ's. :) Enjoy this wonderful season celebrating the birth of our Savior with your sweet little one's! I am so excited to share this awesome family session with you tonight. I feel so blessed to say that these are some of our very best friends and such an amazing and wonderful family! We truly love them so much! Recently, they finalized the adoption of their second child, so of course we had to do some official family photos to mark the occasion. We love you guys and are so happy for you! Congrats Wise family! Love ya'll!
I love fall for so many reasons and one of those is that I get to spend a lot of my time working with families. I've been so fortunate this year to visit again with past clients and I've been able to meet lots of new ones as well. I had such a great time meeting and working with this beautiful family this fall. They were so fun + comfortable to photograph on a gorgeous fall afternoon and I love how their session flowed so naturally. Thank you guys for being so wonderful to hang out with!
So, this is sort of an emotional post for me because it's my very best friend in the world and her family that are featured on the blog tonight. Emotional because here in just a few short weeks, they are moving to Japan for a year. I am so incredibly excited for them but also so terribly sad to see them go. She is my bestie, my Jonathan. I seriously feel so incredibly blessed to have been given this gift of friendship with her for the past almost 20 years (goo!). Even our kiddos are best buds. January is going to be a tearful month for me for sure. So, on to the pictures...If you know this family, you love them. I was so excited to do some fun family portraits for them downtown before they leave. I'm gonna miss you guys like crazy, Shields fam! Love ya'll!
I love to photograph newborns. I especially love to photograph newborns and their families in their own environment at home. It's just so beautiful. I love getting to catch little adoring moments between father and son, mother and daughter, mother and father. I love hearing dad give sweet comforting words to his new little one while he changes their diaper and getting to sneak down the hallway to catch that little moment. I love talking to new mamas about this new life they've entered into and all the joys and struggles that accompany it already. When I think of my newborn photography, THIS session is exactly the way I always envision it. But enough about me....
Meet Townes and Etta. Born a month ago today. Brought into this world at 39 weeks by their incredibly strong mama, DRUG FREE! That is a feat with one baby, but two!? I was in awe of her. It is truly something to be proud of. I had the best time spending an afternoon with this precious new family at their session. These babies were so much fun to work with and their family made my job super easy with their good looks and incredible style. Enjoy these precious photographs of this beautiful family. 3 weeks ago tonight I got to meet back up with one of my sweet little newborn clients and her family to do her 6 month portraits. It was the most beautiful evening. It was in the 80's during our session and it felt like a little bit of summer was still lingering in the air. Tonight I'm bundled up by the fire as I write this blog post since it's 30 outside and a chance of snow tonight. These gorgeous warm summery evenings are drawing to a close for the year and I am just sitting here so thankful for getting to be a part of these sweet little memories we got to photograph of this little one and her mama. Like her chubby little hands, giggles with mama and of course sucking those fingers. Can't wait to see this family again in a few months when it's warm again! Until then, enjoy these sweet images!

This family is so special to ours. I seriously can't say enough about how much we love them. Christa is such an incredible mother and I am privileged to call her one of my very best friends. I mean really, I have called her mid-temper-tantrum to ask for parenting advice. She's such a godly example to me all the time. I've been able to see their family grow in God's grace over the past few years and I was so honored to photograph their family recently after the birth of their sixth child. This might be one of my favorite newborn sessions ever. Our session just flowed so naturally. Kids were playing and eating lunch and being themselves. Heck, my baby was sleeping in a crib in the toddler's room! It is easy to see how much this family loves one another. Congrats Schoolfield family! I love you guys!
I love to photograph newborns. Love it! I love getting to chat with new moms and dads. I love the excitement in their voices as they talk about their new journey into parenthood. Love seeing the way they look at their new little one. Love seeing their new perfect little nursery with all the time and love that went into every detail. This newborn session was no exception. I had the best time getting to know this new little family. I noticed one thing while editing this family's photos...they were smiling so much! You can just see in every photograph that their hearts are bursting with love for this new precious life. Congrats Neal family! Seriously, this guy is one of the happiest babies I've ever met. All throughout his session he was giving me these big, wide open mouthed, gummy smiles. I love this stage. And I love seeing new parents with their babies at this age. You're starting to come out of the newborn sleepless fog and you are being constantly rewarded with smiles and giggles. It makes all those sleepless nights worth it. Happy 4 months little guy! Can't wait to see you grow throughout this year!
