This summer has been so much fun at our house. I have always wanted a pool. Our kids love to be in the water. It has taken me 3 years to convince my husband to let us get a little temporary, super classy ;) above ground pool for the kids, and this year I finally succeeded. Yes! This thing has brought our little family so much joy and good times together for the past month so I wanted to do this months 10 on 10 post of images in and around our pool. Make sure you make your way around the circle by heading over to my talented friend Allison of Poetry and Prose Photography's post. :)

I was so excited when Lauren emailed me a few months back to let me know that they were expecting their second baby and they wanted to do maternity photos with me again. This family is seriously gorgeous but the best part about them is that they are so genuine and fun to hang out with! I can't wait to meet their new precious bundle next month!
Oh my word. This family is just so precious. I absolutely loved meeting them and photographing them. They were so genuine and their love for each other so evident. Our session was full of snuggles, tickles, giggles and it ended with a Daddy dog pile. What could be better!? Enjoy these photos of this precious family. I had the best time hanging out with you guys!
A couple of weeks ago, I got to photograph this beautiful newborn baby girl and her family. They are seriously the sweetest family. I felt right at home with them since I got to know them a bit at their maternity session this spring. What a sweet and adorable family. Enjoy this wonderful time in your lives Johnson Family!
We had THE most beautiful weather for this January downtown family/baby milestone session last week. I seriously think this boy gets cuter each time I see him. He is all smiles. I also really love hanging out with his Mama and Daddy. It has been so fun to watch them blossom into parenthood. It suits you guys pretty well. :) Can't believe the next time I see this guy, he'll be a year old! Happy 8 Months Coop!
Since today is the last day of 2014 I wanted to do a post compiling some of my favorites from client sessions this past year. What an amazing year this has been! I am so thankful to have had 80 sessions this year with 51 individual families. I had originally intended to do a post of each type of session I do but ran out of time so none of my maternity clients are featured here but you can see them here in a post I did on Monday. Thank you all so much for allowing me to come into your homes, get to know you a bit, and capture these beautiful memories for each of you to treasure for a lifetime. I love my job and it's because of you all that I am able to do it. I almost get emotional looking at all these photos because I know that each and every one is a real story of love and family. Thank you again for trusting me with your memories! I know this is LONG but I just couldn't pick a few favorites! Enjoy!
And here's one more for good measure with one from each and every session I did this year! Thanks so much for being a part of it and I can't wait to see you in the new year!
I simply adore photographing expecting mothers. They are just so beautiful. It is such an exciting time in the life of a family and I love to get to document it. This couple was so great to work with. We had a gorgeous evening with the most beautiful light. Thank goodness because they came such a long way to have me do their photographs. Congratulations Nelson family! I am so excited for you guys to be parents. Blessings to you!
So, this is sort of an emotional post for me because it's my very best friend in the world and her family that are featured on the blog tonight. Emotional because here in just a few short weeks, they are moving to Japan for a year. I am so incredibly excited for them but also so terribly sad to see them go. She is my bestie, my Jonathan. I seriously feel so incredibly blessed to have been given this gift of friendship with her for the past almost 20 years (goo!). Even our kiddos are best buds. January is going to be a tearful month for me for sure. So, on to the pictures...If you know this family, you love them. I was so excited to do some fun family portraits for them downtown before they leave. I'm gonna miss you guys like crazy, Shields fam! Love ya'll!
This is quite possibly my favorite session ever and BONUS! it is of my own son! He turned 4 last week (which I cannot believe) and told me he wanted a super hero birthday party. As soon as the words were out of his mouth, I knew we had to do this shoot together. He doesn’t exactly love the camera, it’s a photographer’s child thing, so I was over the moon at how much fun he was having and how much he was totally working it for me. I had a blast with him! He is truly such a special and wonderful child. I feel totally blessed to be his mama. It’s hard for me to believe he is already 4 years old. I remember the days of holding him and snuggling him when he was a newborn just like it was yesterday. Thankfully, he still lets me do that some but he is just growing up so fast. Children truly are such a blessing from the Lord and we are so thankful that God chose us to be parents to Beck. Happy 4th Birthday, baby. I love you. -Mommy
This session was the perfect last hoorah for summer. Perfect weather, sun-kissed skin, cut off jean shorts and pony tails. I love fall but I have been savoring these last summery days we've been having here in East Tennessee. I met this wonderful family after stopping by their family farm, Riverview Family Farm several months ago when I was location scouting near our house. It is a beautiful little slice of heaven on lake Loudon. You can hold all kinds of events here like birthday parties, weddings, etc. You should check them out! I had so much fun with this family out on this gorgeous property playing in the sun, dancing and making silly faces. Thank you Samulski family for letting me come and hang out with you guys for a while. I hope you will treasure these images of your beautiful family. Enjoy!
I am so excited to get to share with you today this precious birth story. I met Courtney at our prenatal appointment just a week before delivery and I knew I was going to click with her and her family. We have a lot in common and it was truly an honor to be able to document her birth story. I was so happy that her husband Brad got to be there since we were unsure if he would be in town when she went into labor. He was a wonderful support to her during her labor. He kept her smiling and laughing all through her labor, even at 9cm!
Courtney did such an awesome job during her labor and birth. She had a goal to achieve a natural, drug free birth and she totally did it! I am so proud for her! Welcome to the world Lucy B! You are blessed to be a part of a precious family that loves you more than you'll ever know.
Check out the video of the Collins family's birth story at the end of this post. The music in the video is being used with permission and by Matthew Perryman Jones.
If you are interested in more of my birth photography, you can find more info on that here!

I little while back I got to meet this sweet baby girl and her wonderful Momma + Daddy. It just so happened to also be their 5th wedding anniversary! I had a great time getting to know this very special family. Blessings on you guys in your journey as a new family!
Yesterday I got to meet up with a beautiful mama who had just had belly henna done. The very talented artist, Stephanie Gentry, just joined up with Open Heart Doula Service to provide this service to clients as well as belly casting. What a fun way to remember your pregnancy! We are working on a date to combine a belly henna and a mini maternity session together. Please contact me if you are interested as there will only be a few spots.
I had the best time getting to meet Stephanie and Taylor and their furry child Sophie for a maternity session this week. Stephanie is a beautiful momma (as you can see!). You guys are so much fun and I'm so excited for you! I can't wait to meet baby Hudson in a few weeks. I fully expect you guys to be expert snugglers the next time I see your family! :)
There's this litte spot where a bunch of wild flowers grow in our neighborhood and everytime I drive by there, I can just see my Ellie playing in the flowers so yesterday we took a little walk and did just that. Today she turns 18 months so I thought it would be great to do some portraits of her. Listen, I know she's mine and maybe I'm a smidge biased but I'm pretty sure she's the prettiest little thing ever! I can't believe she's already 18 months. She is such a sweet blessing to our family and we are so honored that God gave her to us. Love you baby girl...
Check out those lashes!
Several months ago I got to do Ms. Lily's newborn session and recently I got to visit with her again and update a session with her and her 3 beautiful older sisters. I even convinced her momma to sneak in on a few. :) I love getting to update sessions with families and see how they've grown and changed. These girls are the perfect combination of sweet + sassy! It was so fun getting to spend some time with you guys again. Enjoy your photos!
This morning, a few minutes after Daddy left for work we heard him beeping his horn in the driveway. He had returned home with this little guy. And seriously, it is like Christmas in June around here. My kiddos have been giddy all day. Sadly, for them (but not for Mr. Turtle) he got away while we went in for lunch. Hope you are having a fun Monday too!
Get ready to gush.....because this little doll is incredibly adorable! I was lucky enough to get to photograph little Lily + a few shots of her big brother Luke at her 9 month session last week and we had such a great time. Lily was so happy the whole time. I'm looking forward to getting to know this family more in the future! Hope you enjoy these sweet photos!
I've got some seriously, sugary sweetness to share with you today. Last week I got to do a newborn session for the Lewis family. You may remember their maternity session here. Little Miss Audrey was such a dream baby at our session and as you can see her Momma and Daddy are completely smitten with her. Congrats Lewis family!
I love 6 month old babies! They are just so much fun to photograph. Rolly Polly smiley, and if you're lucky, a little sitting up. I had the best time at this little guy's session. He had me rolling around all over the ground with him at his session to capture his sweetness. Thankfully, his momma and I spent a little time chatting and catching up afterwords and right as everyone was about to leave, the sun came out and we got some last minute shots with the yummiest, golden light. Enjoy this wonderful time with your little man! Hope you love these photos!
